So any ideas of who “Skye” might really be?
It was already established that she has erased everything about her past digitally and I can only assume that “Skye” is an alias.
My guess is that she may be an established Marvel character.. but which one?
Jessica Jones? Jessica Drew? Someone not named Jessica?
Kind of hoping it’s Jennifer Walters aka She-Hulk. Bruce Banner’s cousin and I understand that she may be a little anti-Shield because of how they’ve hounded Bruce. Of course this is just a theory.
I am 100% sure she is an established marvel character. That’s the only reason they would hide her true name and identity.
ALso I am 1000% sure she has her own agenda for getting into SHIELD. Her capture was way too easy for someone who could half-offhandedly hack shield while pretending not to. Let’s not forget about the thingy she took from her van when May was not watching.
Let’s not forget that showrunners already said that “Skye is not really who she seems to be”
I don’t even have any investment in comics canon, but I still want this like burning.
I would love for Skye to be a secret super from the Larger Marvelverse (hell, maybe Rising Tide is the new superhero underground to make up for the X-Men normally having that role in the Marvelverse?). I just really hope that her future heel-face turn doesn’t end up being a trainwreck. (Because I am laying my bet on Rising Tide being at least partially a villain organization that suckered Skye given her whole naive revolutionary thing, maybe it capitalizes on there being new supers who are paranoid) At least they REALLY toned down her “IMA REVOLUTIONARY LOL” for the second episode because that would have gotten super annoying very quickly otherwise.
IDK man, I was hoping that Mike would join the team in addition to Skye so that we have a proper “everyman” character to empathize with. Knowing Skye has Big Secrets and a Mysterious Past with a Mysterious Organization That Is Not SHIELD kind of undermines her narrative role a lot given that this early in the game we kind of rely on the tropes to carry us into getting to know the ensemble. (Everyone else is played so damn straight… the Badass Loner, the Science Dweebs, the Kickass Senpai. Coulson’s not a trope, but he can get by with that since we already know him. If it weren’t for the Sooper Seekrit Organization stuff Skye would be an utterly perfect Everyman.) Lay that one more at the feet of Whedon that he fucked that one up I guess.
More Greater Marvel!U continuity porn is literally the thing I want most out of Agents of SHIELD.
