Link is so under appreciated. I wish we would have discovered more about him in the show.

Link was such a precious little guy. Quite frankly, I’m kind of glad he didn’t go the way of Cyrus and go nuts.

That being said, I totally wanted to know more about him.

Link is totally the Neville Longbottom to Beck, Mara, and Zed’s Golden Trio, and I like to think that in the hypothetical second season he would have taken a corresponding level in badass.

I am an asexual mutant. A perfectly happy asexual mutant and a virgin by choice at the age of 32. I am perfectly happy being the eccentric spinster aunt to my niece and nephew, and do not want, nor have I ever wanted, children of my own.

I also have a condition called Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. It’s pretty much exactly what it says on the tin: a hormone disorder that causes frequent, multiple cysts on the ovaries, along with 900 little bonus prizes which for me include hypoglycemia, anemia due to overly heavy periods, a fucking goatee, and, almost certainly, infertility (PCOS is the #1 cause of infertility in women of childbearing age in America). I was diagnosed with this condition at the age of 17, and it’s probably the fault of another hormone condition (Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia) that I was actually born with, but that’s kind of secondary.

The big deal, see, is that in the last ten or twelve years I have had six surgeries because of this condition. Six. Five of them to remove cysts in excess of 6 cm (think a baseball, 3x the size of the organ itself), and one due to complications from Surgery #4.

After the second of these five surgeries, I started asking about having a total hysterectomy. I was pretty much laughed at. Fair enough; I was in my twenties at the time and even though I knew 100% that I was asexual and wanted neither children nor my hideously malfunctioning reproductive organs, that’s still major surgery on a 20something who doesn’t have cancer or whatever. Except I found out they probably would have denied me even something so simple as a fucking tubal ligation at that age because “don’t worry, you’ll change your mind”.

Fast forward to April of 2012 and surprise! An 8.5 centimeter cyst (think softball or grapefruit) developed on my right ovary and caused it to twist on its ligaments, cutting off the blood supply. Hello, surgery #4. Normally these are pretty simple procedures done via laparoscopy and not a terribly big deal…until you add a mutant hellspawn bacteria called MRSA into the equation. Surgery #4 ended up buying me Surgery #5, to clean out the abscess, and three weeks in UW Harborview Medical Center on IV antibiotics.

At this point, I began begging for a total hysterectomy. I don’t care about having to go on HRT after, I don’t want kids, I’m fucking infertile anyway. I just want to be done with this bullshit.

Nope. Deenied. If I’d had even one kid it’d have been a nonissue, but 32 and childless is still “too young” to risk me changing my mind later after an elective hysterectomy. Nine months later, come February? Surgery #6, for a 4cm cyst on my left ovary that ruptured and then wouldn’t quit bleeding.

Currently I’m on a combination of high-dose continuous birth control, metformin, and an anti-androgen called spironolactone, a sort of Hail Mary compromise that my GYN hopes will suppress the cysts for good and fix my anemia problem by eliminating my periods altogether. If after a year I’m still having issues, she’s agreed to finally start talking seriously about a hysterectomy. Which is good, because I am at the point that if I end up needing another surgery, I am going to demand at the top of my lungs that it be the last surgery on my reproductive organs that I will ever need.

This could have been dealt with four surgeries ago, or three, or two. But hey, you never know, I might change my mind.

I have rarely been so fucking livid as I was when dickbag conservative commentator Michael Savage suggested that Justice Roberts’ decision (in defiance of the party line) to uphold the Affordable Care Act was due to his being mentally compromised by his fucking seizure medication.

“Let’s talk about Roberts,” Savage said. “I’m going to tell you something that you’re not gonna hear anywhere else, that you must pay attention to. It’s well known that Roberts, unfortunately for him, has suffered from epileptic seizures. Therefore he has been on medication. Therefore neurologists will tell you that medication used for seizure disorders, such as epilepsy, can introduce mental slowing, forgetfulness and other cognitive problems. And if you look at Roberts’ writings you can see the cognitive disassociation (sic) in what he is saying…”

A sincere fuck you, sir, from this perfectly lucid, non-disassociated epileptic, and a sincere thank you to Justice Roberts. I don’t always (or often) agree with your politics and your decisions, but this decision profoundly affects my life, and you made the right one in spite of your party’s frothing kill-the-poor douchebaggery about it. It’s easy to go with the party line; openly defying it on this scale takes levelheadedness and guts. I respect the hell out of that.

It’s never explained canonically, but most of the fandom has extrapolated from implications (the fact that it sounds a lot like the noise a struggling or broken hard drive makes, combined with Rinzler’s history) that it has something to do with code conflict—Tron’s base directives (Protect the System, Fight for the Users, etc.) grating against Clu’s enforced overwrites.
