What if Mass Effect 4 is based post Reaper war.

And they have statues of Shepard, and in an area you can see the Normandy out of commission, docked, worn from lack of use and from the weather?

there’s the jeff moreau scholarship fund for aptitude placement tests and summer school flight lessons. the thane krios memorial hospital. the legion omnitool app for kids ages five and up to understand the geth better than anyone ever did in previous generations. there’s a mordin solus memorial beach, too.

and the normandy’s a galactic treasure. for fifteen hundred credits—six hundred for seniors, five hundred for kids under thirteen, free for school groups if you reserve in advance—you can take a tour of the old ship. you can see joker’s cockpit, steve cortez’s shuttle bay, james vega’s chin-up bar.

an empty hamster wheel and empty fish tanks. you can step inside the private terminal and close your eyes and, over the speaker system, there’s a simple recording: hackett out. 

there’s garrus vakarian’s calibrations. the old memorial wall, gilding on the letters starting to peel and fade. an empty bottle of serrice ice brandy in a glass-front cabinet in the med bay. 

the model ship collection is missing, donated to a museum a long time ago as per commander shepard’s wishes, with express instructions that it’s going to be an interactive exhibit. anybody can play with them. 

every day, the gift shop down the way sells out of normandy keychains and spectre patches. kids with wide eyes walk away really believing in the same hope that lived through plenty of yesterdays. 

and, long after the graying major vega stops stopping by, the shadow of a hardened turian cast over the neighboring ground fading from view, the glint of light off a quarian’s mask winking out, an asari still visits every year on april 11th. some days, she’s joined by two krogans. 

the rest of the year, people stop now and then when they walk by—until they’re so used to the old relic being there that it becomes a part of their shared horizon, just another shape set against the sky.

I’m about due to do a masterpost or something of all the krogan art history photoshops I’ve done… Maybe after one more manipulation. Sometimes this week, though, definitely.
