This scene - the way she reaches for him, physically and verbally, the way he’s a twisted repurposed virus but still starts by telling her not to be afraid and ends by saying goodbye, in a voice I would swear was almost gentle - has a much bigger impact when you’ve read the Tron Files and listened to the Abraxas Shards, and realise just how close these two must have been. (I dunno if you can’t access them until after you’ve finished the game or if that was just the Let’s Play I watched, but duuuude.) They emerged from the Sea in the same cycle and were both “adopted” by Flynn so he could study the ISOs and teach them about the ways of the Users. Jalen founded Arjia City so Radia and her followers would have a place to live. Radia worried herself sick about about Jalen’s plan to sneak into the Games. They were going to be promoted to co-Admins, together.

And then Abraxas happened. :|

Angelcide has a headcanon about this scene that I adore and that I have adopted into my own—that Abraxas, instead of infecting her and making her into another virus-zombie like himself like Clu ordered him to do, he defies the order in the only way he can: he derezzes her quickly and completely, so that she won’t have to suffer like he does.  This act, along with getting a building dropped on him at the end of the following boss fight, fractures Clu’s control coding, leading to his roaring rampage of revenge on the Regulator at the end of the game.

SUDDENLY: a Tron-centric female character ficathon!!!

This sort of developed spontaneously over a couple of hours yesterday. With so few female characters in Tron continuity, it’s natural that the guys get the  bulk of the attention — so here’s something to redress the balance a little: a December/January ficathon specifically for female characters in the Tron franchise. It’ll last till February 1 to give extra time to those already involved in the Tronblr Secret Santa.

The ficathon is open to Tron fans anywhere — tumblr, lj/dreamwidth, wherever. Link, share, and enjoy!

General Rules

Your fic must be about a canonical female character. Male characters can, of course, appear, or even figure prominently also, but the female character should be the focus, not an accessory to a male character’s story.

Consider passing the Bechedel Test (having the story contain a conversation between two women which isn’t about a man).

Female OCs are more than welcome as side characters, including OCs based on minor unnamed characters (like that one employee at Flynn’s Arcade, or Siren #2, or a background program from Able’s garage), but this ficathon is about giving some attention to our much-neglected canonical ladies, so your main character(s) should come from the list below.

This ficathon is ship-friendly (and gen-friendly) and open to all ratings and content; therefore please use appropriate tags to help readers categorize your fic.

AU scenarios (like “And then Lora got zapped into the Grid instead of Sam!!”) are fine. Crossovers are okay too, but should balance more toward the Tronverse than away from it.

Specific Rules:

Fic should be over 500 words. Try to stop before 1000, but there’s no penalty for going over. XD

The sign-up period will end on December 9th, 2012. Prompts will be distributed by December 16th.

Deadline is February 1, 2013. That gives you about a month and a half to write!

Fics should be posted on February 1. They may be posted anywhere, as long as they’re open to readers and the link is sent back to us so we can link the story in the masterlist.

Greetings, Tron lovers! I need your help. I’m working on a new fic that’s going to feature ISOs (and their leaders in particular) pretty heavily and I’m looking for reference material, but am having trouble finding anything comprehensive. Do any of you have any links, etc, regarding:

…oh dear Users, this is so frustrating.

There is very, VERY little to go on.  Believe me, I know from when I was working on both the Neglected Character Feature series and when I was writing False Light.  I ended up BSing a lot of the latter, simply because aside from what bits we get in Betrayal and Evolution, and some extras/wiki files related to said properties, we are told absolutely shit all about the ISOs.   What the hell do the alpha/beta/whatever classifications even mean?  Where the hell does Radia get her Professor X powers?    Why are they such special snowflakes?
